The 10th Annual Bunbong Linujil Festival which was held on November 1, 2025 in Northern Ghana was a resounding success drawing a vibrant crowd to the forecourt of the Bunbong Chief’s Palace. The festival, hosted by Uborr Wumbe Dawuni, the Chief of Bunbong, celebrated the community's rich cultural heritage, fostering unity among neighboring tribes including Konkomba, Dagombas, Gonjas, Fulbes, Anufu and Fulani. Through captivating dance, drumming, and colorful performances, attendees were reminded of the importance of preserving tradition and coming together as one.

In his address, Chief Uborr Wumbe Dawuni expressed gratitude to the Bunbong people and surrounding communities for their continuous support, emphasizing that the Linujil Festival is a time to reflect on the values of peace, unity and respect. He noted; “the Linujil Festival reminds us of who we are and where we come from. It strengthens our bond as one people and encourages the younger generation to preserve our cultural heritage.

A major highlight of the event was the electrifying live performance by Rocky Dawuni, the 4x GRAMMY nominated music star and son of Bunbong as well as younger brother to Chief Dawuni. Dawuni’s performance captivated the audience, bringing energy and excitement to the celebration as well as being the first ever fully staged live music concert to happen in Bunbong!! Alidu Mohammed of Playing for Change fame also performed live and brought his Bizung School of Music & Dance to the festival to perform, creating a memorable musical experience for all attendees. In his praise for Dawuni's performance, Northern Regional Minister, H.E. Ali Adolf, highlighted the artist’s role in promoting the image of Northern Ghana internationally.

The festival also served as a platform for important development discussions within the community. Chief Dawuni emphasized the festival's role in attracting attention to Bunbong’s potential, fostering partnerships that drive conscious local development and youth empowerment. The Chief added, “even though we speak different languages, we must come together as one and live in harmony to achieve our common goals. Peace is the way to lead it.

The festival was made possible through the support of sponsors including the Rocky Dawuni Foundation with additional support by Bunbong Community Foundation, Ghana Tourist Agency (GTA,) Verna Mineral Water, Sankara Radio, Somuah Radio Gushiegu. Cary Sullivan, co-producer of the event, described it as an inspiring cultural experience that reflects the heart of Ghana’s creative energy. “This festival shows the power of music, art and tradition to connect people across communities,” she said.

Looking ahead to 2026, the organizers are already planning for an even bigger and more impactful Bunbong Linujil Festival.
